Description
A new £60 million wood-burning power station is to be built in the chemical heartland of Teesside. It will generate enough electricity to power about 30,000 homes.
The 30MW biomass project, known as Wilton 10, will create about 400 jobs during construction. It is expected to be operational by mid-2007.
The power station, being built by utilities and services company SembCorp Utilities (UK), will be one of Britain's largest biomass renewable energy projects.
