Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cable and Wireless management announced a further cut of C&W workers in the UK. During 2005, the company anticipates that there will be a net reduction of approximately 480 roles across Retail and Operations. Most of the redundancies will come from sales and marketing and will be lost at its Bracknell, Berkshire headquarters. The job losses announced on 6 March 2005 are in addition to 600 positions the company said in November 2004 would disappear across Europe in 2005. Dougie Rafferty, Communication Workers Union Organiser said that the union will be doing everything in its power to support and back its members to protect their jobs. C&W do not recognise the CWU.
