French rail products supplier Alstom Transport, a division of Alstom, will cut 162 of its 200 jobs in Riddekerk, Netherlands, the company said on 31 January 2005. Alstom Transport will close the order and production activities in Riddekerk in the course of 2005. Some of the other activities, including client services, sales and maintenance services, will continue but in a reduced form. Alstom Transport attributed its decision mainly to the unfavourable order intakes in the Netherlands. Alstom Transport will negotiate a social plan for the employees with the unions.
