Description
Up to 200 jobs have been cut in Kent after AEI Cables in Northfleet announced it is to close. The company said a trading review showed the Kent base was 'no longer viable' and cable production would cease as soon as practically possible. The plant was used for the design and manufacture of low and medium voltage power cables and specialist industrial and submarine cables.
The site was equipped with some of the most sophisticated cable making machinery in the world and was home to a high voltage testing laboratory in a purpose-designed building.
