Description

Castlemahon Food Products announced the loss of 150 jobs on 22 February 2005 as part of a restructuring programme designed to secure the future of the company. The announcement came just three weeks after it was revealed that Kantoher Food Products, which is just four miles from Castlemahon, is to close with the loss of 140 jobs.

The decision to cut the 410-strong workforce at Castlemahon Food Products to 260 is due to competition in the market and rising operating costs, according to the company.

Shocked staff criticised management for not informing them of the news, and said the first they heard about it was on the local radio news.
