Description

Food ingredients giant, Kerry Group, is to close one of its subsidiaries with the loss of 138 jobs.

The group confirmed that it plans to close the Kantoher Chickens processing plant in Kileedy, Newcastlewest, Co Limerick, in the first week of March 2005.

A Kerry Group spokesman said the company planned to offer workers the chance to take up alternative posts in other group plants. The alternative plants will include its food ingredients operation in Charleville, Co Cork, which is currently expanding, and its factory in Listowel Co Kerry, where demand for workers is also increasing.
