The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
TeliaSonera Finland has launched cooperation negotiations to streamline operations. The reason for the job cuts is the need to adjust operations to the changed business environment. The subject of the negotiations is the termination of a total of about 650 jobs in the company on financial and production-related grounds.
The proposed measures will be directed at the company's network operations, products and services operations, and the support functions of both TeliaSonera Finland and its customer segments.
On 11 April 2005, the negotiations have been terminated. Of the total number of employees who fell within the scope of the employer/employee cooperation procedure, a maximum of 330 may have to be dismissed. The company believes that the number will still drop. The rest of the 650 posts reduction needs will be met as fixed-term employment contracts expire, people retire, jointly agreed termination arrangements are made and employees are redeployed either within the company or outside the Group.
