France Telecom, the French telecommunications company, announced on 28 January 2005 that 5,500 jobs would be suppressed in France by the end of 2005. This decision will be made possible thanks to 8,500 retirements expected for 2005. However, the company affirmed that 3,000 jobs would be created during 2005. However, these 3,000 jobs include 1,800 part-time positions in marketing and sales divisions, mostly performed by students, for which these contracts are not term contracts.
