Description

Management of the textile company Fabelta Ninove announced it is to close its artificial silk factory. 170 people will be made redundant. Fabelta blamed strong competition from synthetic silk producers. In 1998, the company had already relocated a part of its production in the Czech Republic. Workers were not surprised by the announcement but didn’t expect it to be on such a large scale, as they thought one third of the jobs would be saved.
