Description

The French subsidiary of Solectron, an American electronics company, is to make another staff reduction in Canéjan in Gironde. Solectron succeeded in reducing the number of jobs cut to 180 instead of 227 initially expected, thanks to an increase of working time. The reason for this restructuring is the loss of the most important trading customer the Canadian Nortel. Hence, in order to reduce the costs, the company is to relocate a part of its production in Eastern Europe and China. Solectron who wants to keep its French site, has nevertheless announced an increase in its capital and is now planning to focus on Aeronautics and defence markets.
