Description

In the framework of a major restructuring process affecting most of its plants all over Europe, the Germany-based Deutsche Telekom corporation plans to cut 2,200 jobs in its mobile phone division within the next two years. Its Austrian subsidiary, the country’s second largest mobile phone provider known under its brand name ‘T-Mobile Austria’ based in Vienna, will allegedly lose some 150 workers, most of them employed in marketing and administration. Therewith, the management seeks to save labour costs of up to €80 million. Currently, the company employs some 1,860 workers in Austria. According to the management, a social plan for the employees concerned is being negotiated with the works council.
