European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Dungannon Meats has been battling to overcome the loss of a major order to supply 40% of the supermarket chain Sainsbury's fresh beef products.
It has now begun a consultation process which is expected to result in about 200 job losses.
Dungannon Meats employs 1,900 people in nine plants in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. It is the retail packing plant at Dungannon which looks set to bear the brunt of the job losses.
In April 2005, better news came with the announcement of a new contract with the Coop. This meant that hundreds of jobs have been saved due to the £55 million of beef and lamb orders.
The company is now set to recruit 30 new workers, following the latest new orders from Co-op stores across the UK. The County Tyrone-based firm expects that about 1,000 people will again be employed by the end of 2005.
