Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Åšwit, a protected labour entity (ie one benefiting from tax reductions and other privileges due to the fact that it retains a certain number of disabled employees) employing 400 people, including 260 disabled persons, has announced plans to dismiss 100 members of its work force. Åšwit manufactures cosmetics and a variety of household cleaning products. The planned downsizing of employment is motivated by the implementation of less favourable tax regulations.
