Description
British American Tobacco (BAT) plans to shed a further 122 jobs in Germany, the company said on 3 December 2004. The move will affect jobs in Dusseldorf and Ratingen. BAT plans to consolidate its Dusseldorf-based unit Brinkmann Niemeyer. The company also announced on 1 December 2004 its plans to cut 361 jobs in Bayreuth, southern Germany, shifting 145 employees abroad. BAT had already cut 125 jobs in Hamburg in the spring of 2004. Following the job cuts, BAT's overall German workforce will fall to 1,400 from 2,000.
