The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The company Iberia is a Spanish airline specialised in the transportation of passengers. On December 2001, the company presented a job reduction plan with voluntary early retirement measures. Since then, 2,458 of its employees did voluntarily ask to be included in this plan. On 4 December 2004, the company decided to continue with the job reduction plan until 2007. The plan includes early retirement and relocation measures for up to 2,500 of its employees. The regional authorities must now give their consent to the company's proposal once it has been agreed with the labour representatives.
