Description
During recent years, the Swedish beer market has witnessed several structural changes : the heavily increased illegal import of beer and the shift of consumer preference from branded beer products toward the discount segment. These changes have had adverse effects on the development of the beer industry, included on Carlsberg. Despite the significant restructuring programme which has been carried out in 2004, Carlsberg Sverige will not record a positive operating profit for that same year. In order to reverse the trend as fast as possible, further restructuring measures have been initiated by the company, including the dismissal of approximately 200 employees.
