Description
As a result of the pressure on profit levels, SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) will accelerate a number of cost-reduction measures and lay off a total of 1,200 persons in France, the Netherlands and Australia. SCA expects to start the implementation of its programme in the fourth quarter of 2004 and to conclude it in 2005. In the context of this plan, all production of incontinence products will be moved from the plant in Mâcon to the plant in Linselles (France) and the production of feminine hygiene products will be concentrated to Gemerská-Hôrka (Slovakia). These two projects will result in personnel reductions in France and the Netherlands.
