European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The ‘Strategy for Privatisation of the Hard Coal Mining Sector’ drawn up by the Polish government provides for the merger of the Bogdanka mine with the power generation facility in Kozienice and for the sale of the entity thus created. The unions active at the mine have expressed worries that this will lead to reduced coal extraction and to the downsizing of the workforce by 1,000 jobs.
