Description

The Glaxosmithkline Montrose site in Scotland, is to shut by the end of 2006 with the loss of 300 jobs. Jim Mowatt, T&G National Secretary for manufacturing, said: ‘We are deeply disappointed by GSK's announcement that it intends to shut its Montrose site. This is a world-class site serviced by a world-class workforce, and we believe that the search for a suitable purchaser should begin immediately. The shop stewards and members have demonstrated a tremendous degree of flexibility and willingness to meet all the company's demands, so we are especially disappointed by the news.’
