Description

Holcim, cement producer based in Obourg (Hainaut), announced on 4 September 2004 a restructuring plan implying the collective redundancy of 134 employees, following the Belgian ‘Renault’ procedure. The company's objective is a productivity of 10,000 tons of cement per head. From 310, the workforce will pass on to 180. These cuts are to be achieved mainly in the cleaning (50) and production (60) units. On 19 November 2004, after negotiations within the Renault procedure, the final number of redundancies was set to 120. These will be scheduled in 2005 and 2006 and will include early retirement measures.
