Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Weru, the German manufacturer of doors and windows, intends to cut labour costs by € 13 million and is planning to introduce the 40-hour week without pay rise. Furthermore, the company intends to discontinue its holiday and Christmas bonuses and to cut 150 of the 1,050 jobs at its headquarters in Rudersberg. The company's works council has criticised management's cost cutting measures and has announced that it will protest against the planned cuts.
