Employment effect (start)
Foreseen end date
Description
More than 100 staff are predicted to lose their jobs as a result of the £711 million merger between Capital and GWR, with advertising sales forces expected to bear the brunt. The companies said today the merger would mean a duplication of roles in the 1,550-strong workforce. Most of the cuts, which will help to save £7.5 million a year, will come from the merging of the two groups' sales houses, where job losses have been put at ‘less than 100' out of a combined staff of 200.
