The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The company management of Alitalia announced on 6 September 2004 a restructuring plan which included 5,000 redundancies. After that announcement, negotiations with the unions have led to the conclusion of three collective agreements with pilots, cabin crews and ground staff respectively, which allowed to reduce redundancies down to 3,750, thanks to interventions on working time, shifts and salaries. The total reduction in labour costs produced by both redundancies and new working arrangements should be of some € 310 billion in four years.
