KLM is an international airline operating world-wide. Its home base is Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Due to the crisis in the sector some 4,500 jobs have to be suppressed.
In September 2003, the merger with Air France will lead to 500 job suppression (there are no direct dismissals foreseen, only retirements and non replacements) above the 4,500 announced earlier.
