European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Altadis wants to save €70 million in the coming years. A part of the workers will be relocated to the site of Logroño and Alicante, others will be proposed early retirement. A follow-up plan is expected by the Unions and the employees.
On 5 May 2005, the company Altadis has announced the accomplishment of the job reduction plan presented in July 2003. The job reduction plan will affect 600 employees, the closure of the plants in Cadiz (Andalusien, Spain) with 166 employees, and of Tarragona (Catalonien, Spain) with 240 employees and the closure by 2007 of the Seville plant (Andalusien, Spain) with 220 employees.
On 3 August 2005 the central government has accepted the job reduction plan presented by the company with the creation of 898 redundancies. The plan will affect 39 employees of Alicante(Valencia), 176 employees of Cadiz( Andalusien), 40 employees of Logroño( La Rioja), 21 employees of Palazuelo ( Valladolid, Castilla y Leon), 170 employees of Cantabria, 209 employees of Seville (Andalusien) and 243 employees of Tarragona (Catalonien). The plan includes early retirement and voluntary dismissals.
