Description

ShopDirect, formerly the mail order arm of Great Universal Stores, announced 800 job losses at three sites. 550 staff would lose their jobs at the Leeds depot and 250 in Worcester - and ShopDirect added that another 17 jobs would go at its "hanging garments operation", in Bolton. Following the closure of its Bangalore centre ShopDirect said it would take on up to 250 extra workers across seven sites, including Leeds, to replace those lost in India. Other locations include Burnley, Bolton and Widnes.
