Description
Dutch information technology services company Getronics said it will cut 1,400 jobs worldwide instead of the 1,000 to 1,200 it had previously announced. The revision in the number of job cuts was announced at an extraordinary shareholders meeting. Of the total 1,400 jobs to be cut, 550 will be in Italy, 600 in the Netherlands and 250 in other countries such as Spain, and in South America and the Middle East. The increase in job cuts comes as a result of a further scaling-down of overcapacity and the restructuring of Getronics' Dutch operations - where the merging of back office operations has led to more job cuts than first thought. Zijl wouldn't comment on the cost savings associated with the extra job cuts.
