Description

Pechiney has to restructure due to the drop of the Aluminium price. Several units are affected :

Closure of the unit at Auzat (Ariège), 214 workers.

Dismissals at the unit at Sabat (Ariège) and Compiègne (Oise), 63 job cuts.

Closure of the Aubagne unit (Bouche du Rhône), 60 workers.

Closure of the Avallon unit (Yonne), 140 workers.

Dismissals at the Provins unit (Seine et Marne), 130 job cuts.

Overall, more than 600 lay-offs. The director said that the restructuring plan could be worth due to the industrial situation. Neverthless, the group will offer several redeployment possibilities for the workers dismissed.
