Description
Following the Granada-Carlton merger to form a unique ITV company, Granada decided to relocate the activities of its Southampton subsidiary Meridian. Meridian's regional programming operation is to become part of the ITV News division, headed by Carlton, that will be situated in a new high-tech centre in Fareham. Unions fear other job losses in other regional production centres. On 19 January 2004, unions threatened to go on strike to protest against some compulsory redundancies.
