Avebe, the Netherlands-based starch-producing firm, has announced the withdrawal of its branches from over 60 countries. The decision to pull out was caused by disappointing profits for the Dutch company.
In 2002, Avebe had already announced a restructuring involving the suppression of 450 jobs worldwide, whereof 350 in the Netherlands.
January 2004. The first job suppression announced in 2002 has been achieved for 50 %. Avebe announced the suppression of 200 jobs worldwide, whereof 90 in the Netherlands. Direct dismissals are not excluded and the job reduction timeline is not known yet.
