Description
Faber Lotto, a German lottery service provider, that operates major state-licensed lotteries, announced the dismissal of 120 employees in Bochum. The job cuts affect 71 positions at the company's call centre and 49 positions in the company's headquarters. The redundancies are due to take affect at the end of the year.
The restructuring is driven by a decline in the traditional written sale of lottery tickets, rising marketing and shipping costs, changes in gaming regulations for telephone distribution, and new opportunities emerging from the digital lottery market. The company has announced adaptations to a more digital business model.
The company will complete the layoffs by the end of the year. The dismissals only affect the site in Bochum.
Faber Lotto has around 315 employees in total, concentrated in Bochum. Therefore, the redundancies affect more than a third of the workforce.
