Description

DAF Trucks, a Dutch truck manufacturer, announced that 285 agency workers would lose their jobs across its plants in the Netherlands and Belgium as it reduced truck production for the third time in 2019. The reductions affect 150 workers in Eindhoven and 135 in Oevel (Westerlo). From 1 July, daily truck production would decrease from 220 to 200 vehicles.

DAF attributed the reduction to economic uncertainty in Europe, which was prompting transport operators to postpone purchases of new trucks.

The company manufactures trucks in Eindhoven, while its Oevel plant produces axles and cabins.
