Description

DAF Trucks, a Dutch truck manufacturer, announced that 135 agency workers at its Oevel (Westerlo) plant in Belgium would lose their jobs as the company reduced truck production for the third time in 2019. From 1 July, daily truck production would decrease from 220 to 200 vehicles.

DAF attributed the reduction to economic uncertainty in Europe, which was prompting transport operators to postpone purchases of new trucks.

The Oevel plant manufactures axles and cabins. The same announcement affected 150 agency workers in Eindhoven, the Netherlands DAF Trucks 2019 - NL.
