Description

Ardagh Glass Holmegaard, a manufacturer of glass packaging in Fensmark, Denmark, will cut 98 jobs. On 6 October 2026, the company announced the closure of its coloured glass furnace and two associated production lines at the end of November 2026.

According to management, the closure aims to reduce fixed costs, including an annual CO2 tax of around DKK 7.5 million.

Around 100 job losses were initially expected. The dismissals were carried out on 26–27 October 2026.

The final number was set after three weeks of negotiations with shop stewards. Chief shop steward Anders Kremmling described employees as shocked and saddened.

The plant employs approximately 300 people, so roughly one-third of its workforce is affected.
