Description
Nidec Motors & Actuators Spain, part of the Japanese multinational Nidec Group, has confirmed the closure of its automotive components plant in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), with approximately 100 jobs loss. The factory, which has operated since 1998 and specialises in automotive motor development, will cease production as its activities are transferred to other group facilities in Poland, India and Serbia.
The announcement follows several years of difficulties, during which employees have experienced successive temporary lay-off schemes (ERTEs) since 2020. The Santa Perpètua de Mogoda Town Council has expressed its support for the workforce and is coordinating with the Catalan Government to explore potential assistance and employment alternatives. Municipal employment services have also been made available to affected workers to support their transition into new jobs.
