Description

REMA 1000 Norge, the Norwegian grocery franchisor, announced plans to reduce employment by 130 positions in support functions at its service office in Oslo and regional offices nationwide. The restructuring is scheduled for completion by 1 January 2027.

The company aims to reduce costs and improve efficiency through a simpler organisational structure and clearer responsibilities. Chief executive Christian Hoel said the changes were intended to strengthen competitiveness and enable lower grocery prices.

The reductions affect administrative employees responsible for supporting franchisees and managing the chain’s concept, product range and marketing. Most job losses will occur in Oslo, where the majority of administrative employees are based. The company currently employs approximately 530 people in these office functions, meaning the reductions affect around one quarter of the workforce.
