Description

Hutchinson, a French manufacturer of components for the automotive industry, plans to cut up to 170 jobs at its Hutchinson 2 plant in Żywiec, Poland. The reductions are scheduled in three stages between November 2026 and June 2027.

The restructuring is attributed to declining orders, difficulties in the automotive market and the completion of production projects not replaced by new contracts. The cuts may affect production, warehouse, maintenance, production-support and administrative positions. The plan provides for up to 90 job cuts by end-2026, 50 by April 2027 and 30 by June 2027.

NSZZ Solidarność is negotiating with management to limit dismissals and introduce voluntary departures and favourable severance terms. The plant currently employs around 950 people, meaning up to 18% of its workforce could be affected.

In 2025 ERM reported that 80 employees were made redundant at Hutchinson’s Bielsko-Biała plant in Poland, and 91 at its Żywiec plant. Hutchinson2025 - PL
