Description
Prysmian, an Italian cable manufacturer, announced the creation of 300 new positions at its Nordenham plant in Germany as part of its expansion into submarine telecommunications.
The move follows Prysmian’s acquisition of Xtera Topco Limited through a joint venture with Fincantieri and is aimed at doubling the production capacity of the historic Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke facility. Prysmian cites growing demand driven by AI, cloud-computing and data-centre growth as a key factor behind this expansion.
The additional jobs will support the manufacturing of complex network components for the transatlantic EXA Meridian cable project, scheduled to commence in 2029.
The company employs around 2.000 people in Germany and 520 at the Nordenham plant.
