Description

Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, announced the loss of 80 jobs at its Vienna base as part of the winter flight plan 2026. The cut comes after reducing the number of aircraft stationed in Wien from 16 to 12 and cancelling several routes, including those to Lanzarote, Kopenhagen, Dubrovnik, Niš, Marseille, Salerno, Riga, Sevilla, Tel Aviv and Warsaw, as well as two services from Klagenfurt and Linz.

Michael O'Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, cites Austria's comparatively high operating costs including the 12€ ticket tax and increased insurance and air traffic control fees as the main reasons for the withdrawal of the flights. In a press release, he accused the Austrian Chancellor Stocker of "inaction."

In 2025, the company already cut jobs in 2025: Ryanair 2025 - AT and Ryanair 2025 - AT.
