Description
Telia, a Swedish telecommunications operator, announced a reduction of around 900 jobs across its global operations, with the majority of potential cuts, approximately 280 positions, in Finland. With the restructuring, Telia aims to streamline its organisation and achieve savings of about 1 billion krona (roughly €89 million).
The process is set to conclude by the end of 2026. The company attributes the changes to a need for organisational simplification and cost containment. In Finland, 355 roles are at risk of dismissal, while the company plans to open 75 new positions in Finland. In addition, around 50 roles would be transferred from the Group to Telia Finland.
Planned reductions also include approximately 260 positions in Sweden, 150 in Norway, 110 in Lithuania and 100 in Estonia. Telia employs around 14,000 people worldwide, including approximately 2,500 in Finland.
