Description

Delivery Hero, a German online-food delivery and technology platform firm, is relocating its tech unit, called Pandora, from Berlin to Singapore by the end of 2026. Around 200 employees are affected.

The relocation follows Uber’s announced acquisition of large parts of Delivery Hero and aims to centralise technology operations and reduce the number of jobs in Berlin. Delivery Hero's tech unit provides the technical infrastructure for online-food delivery platforms that operate in European and Asian markets.

Originally, all of Pandora's 400 employees were to be moved to Singapore at once. However, the Singaporean government requires that a certain percentage of the company's workforce must be made up of local employees. Therefore, half of the tech unit will have to stay in Berlin until the integration of Delivery Hero into Uber is finished. No explicit job cuts or other measures have been reported, though further workforce reductions in Berlin are possible in the long run. The remaining 200 positions may also be moved to Singapore at a later point in time.

The works council has expressed cautious support but raised concerns about potential staffing changes. No definitive completion date concerning the remaining 200 employees is provided and no further phases are mentioned.

The restructuring only affects the copany's headquarters in Berlin. Delivery Hero has around 40,000 employees in 65 different countries. 3,000 employees work at the headqarters in Berlin. This includes Pandora's 400 employees of which 200 will definitely be outsourced.
