Description
Robert Bosch Production Slovakia, a subsidiary of the German industrial giant Bosch Group, announced the permanent closure of its factory in Bernolákovo, Slovakia. The move will eliminate 148 jobs at the plant's repair and diagnostics unit for automotive alternators. Production is slated to finish by 31 March 2027, after which the site will be sold and the legal entity dissolved.
The decision stems from rising competition, declining global vehicle demand, and a need to consolidate smaller, highly specialised production sites into larger existing facilities – in this case, an existing Bosch plant in Pećinci, Serbia. The company stated that Serbia did not provide any investment support or tax incentives in connection with the relocation, and that the decision was based purely on strategic and economic considerations.
Bosch has already informed employee representatives, followed by the affected employees themselves, about the planned closure. The company intends to negotiate severance terms and a social plan with employee representatives, aiming for what it describes as the most socially responsible solution possible; specific terms have not yet been disclosed.
