European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Szpital Miejski w Miastku, a Polish healthcare provider, announced collective redundancies affecting 181 employees at its facility in Miastko, Pomeranian Voivodeship. The job cuts were reported in August 2026 and are linked to the hospital's planned closure and insolvency proceedings. The restructuring is driven by severe financial difficulties and debts estimated at PLN 40-50 million.
The redundancies affect medical, administrative and support staff, including nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, cleaners and ward assistants. Some healthcare workers may be offered employment opportunities at hospitals in nearby towns Słupsk and Kościerzyna. Others have not been paid their salaries for several months, but because they remain formally employed, they are not yet eligible to receive unemployment benefits. The local labour office is preparing support measures, including training, reskilling and job-placement assistance for all affected employees.
The closure of the Miastko facility marks a significant contraction in local healthcare services.
