European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Nowomag, a Polish manufacturer of mining machinery in Nowy Sącz, is closing its production plant by the end of the year. All 150 production and technical workers are affected.
The closure follows a long-term decline in demand for mining equipment and falling order volumes. The decision is linked to challenges facing the coal mining sector, the closure of shipments to Russia and broader changes in energy markets. Further production is being consolidated within the Grenevia Group rather than relocated abroad, it will continue in the Glinik factory in Gliwice. Job cuts at Glinik are also expected.
The affected workforce includes welders, fitters, CNC operators, quality controllers and electrical technicians. All employees were informed about the closure and collective redundancies. The District Labour Office in Nowy Sącz has engaged with local companies to support the redeployment of affected workers.
