European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Hervis, an Austrian retailer specializing in sporting goods, announced the shutdown of all its Romanian stores in December 2026. The closure will eliminate over 500 jobs across the country’s 49 outlets.
The decision stems from a strategic realignment, as markets in Romania and Hungary have drifted from the brand’s core focus on sport rather than fashion, coupled with increasing online shopping trends accelerated by COVID-19.
The company’s future activities remain unclear beyond exiting the Romanian market, and the closure is expected to complete by the end of 2026.
