European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Brovedani, an Italian manufacturer of automotive mechanical components, has announced the closure of its production plant in Modugno, Apulia. This will affect 44 employees. The production at the site would not resume after 7 September 2026 due to a reduction in business activity, and that manufacturing operations would be consolidated at its San Vito al Tagliamento facility in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The decision was also linked to rising raw material and energy costs, increased international competition, and the challenges currently facing the European automotive industry during its ongoing transition.
The 44 employees are currently covered by a solidarity agreement until the end of September 2026. Discussions are ongoing regarding possible social protection measures and solutions to ensure employment continuity, including potential industrial conversion or reindustrialisation projects for the site.
Trade unions FIM-CISL and FIOM-CGIL called for measures to safeguard employment, while the Apulia regional government convened a task force involving the company and employee representatives. Regional authorities have requested a technical review of available support instruments and participated in discussions with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) to identify solutions for the affected workers and the future use of the site.
