Description
Valmet, a Finnish manufacturer of machinery for the pulp and paper industry, announced that its latest restructuring plan may result in up to 130 job cuts in Finland.
The firm, which employs roughly 18,500 staff worldwide and about 5,600 in Finland, has begun cooperation negotiations within the country following an uncertain market environment and changes in demand that call for increased cost efficiency.
The planned restructuring may also include a change in roles, responsibilities and skills needs among employees. Valmet announced that cooperation negotiations in Finland had concluded, resulting in the elimination of approximately 120 positions. The company will support affected employees’ re-employment through individual career coaching.
In the spring of 2026, Valmet implemented temporary layoffs of 2,400 employees. Valmet also underwent cooperation negotiations leading to the dismissal of hundreds of employees in Sweden and Poland in the spring of 2026 Valmet 2026 - EU and in Finland in March 2025 Valmet 2025 - FI.
