Description
OBOS, a Norwegian housing association in the real estate sector, announced the reduction of approximately 200 positions by the end of 2027. The cuts target staff and support functions across all divisions, including marketing, communications and IT roles.
The restructuring is part of a corporate improvement programme aimed at cutting costs and boosting profitability, with an expected savings of about one billion kroner. It follows as a result of high interest rates and a downturn in the Norwegian housing market.
The restructuring process is currently in its early stages, which include talks between trade unions and the management. Trade union representatives in HK, which organises around 200 employees in the company, describe the process so far as "orderly", and report that they are prioritizing seniority and social considerations in the process.
