European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Eberle, a precision engineering and industrial manufacturing company headquartered in Augsburg's Pfersee district, has announced that approximately 160 positions will be made redundant.
The redundancies are the result of insolvency proceedings initiated due to liquidity constraints, which were exacerbated by high energy costs and geopolitical tensions, forcing the company to realign its cost structure.
According to IG Metall, around 75 employees could be retained by a prospective buyer at a new site in the southern Augsburg district.
Negotiations on a social compensation plan have been concluded, and the trade union IG Metall intends to support affected employees in their professional reorientation and transition to new employment opportunities.
The company employs around 250 people, meaning that the announced redundancies will affect more than half of its workforce.
As of September 2026, it is unknown when the job losses will be implemented.
Updated, 16/09/2026 As of 4 September 2026, a local investor, Wikus Sägenfabrik, based out of Spangenberg, acquired Eberle's saw sales and bimetal divisions, retaining 74 employees at the Augsburg site. The remaining workforce from the other divisions is dismissed. This affects 160 employees. All job losses occur in the Augsburg Area. The IG Metall is actively supporting affected workers through training and job-placement efforts.
