Description

Edeka Nord, a German grocery retailer, has announced the loss of 240 administrative positions as part of the merger of the Nord and Rhein-Ruhr regions. The reductions will affect 190 roles at the company's headquarters in Neumünster and a further 50 positions in Moers. No completion date for the restructuring has yet been announced.

The reorganisation will be implemented in line with the merger's integration plan. The job cuts are the result of a strategic initiative to remove overlapping structures and functions following the consolidation of the two Edeka regions.

Works councils at both sites are currently negotiating social plans and compensation arrangements with management.

Prior to the restructuring, approximately 600 employees were based in Moers and 600 in Neumünster.
